Asturias Uses Hannover Messe to Push Its Metal and Tech Sectors Into Germany’s Industrial Market

Asturias is using Hannover Messe 2026 to strengthen the international push of its metal and technology sectors, with Asturex coordinating a mission of five industrial companies to Germany from April 20 to 24. The regional export promotion agency said the initiative is part of its 2026 international promotion plan for the metal sector and is aimed at improving competitiveness, visibility and business generation in one of the world’s most important industrial fairs.

The mission was organized as a technical visit supported by an Asturex stand, which served as a hub for strategic meetings and as a showcase for the participating companies’ operational and technological capabilities. The delegation included firms from metalworking, automation and digital technology, alongside research and innovation organizations, reflecting a mix of traditional industrial expertise and Industry 4.0-oriented offerings.

Among the companies participating were Dyftec, focused on asset management and maintenance solutions; U4impact, which works on innovation platforms; Itemat Mecanización, a specialist in metalworking processes such as welding and machining; CTIC, a technology center active in intelligent data and digital growth; and P&D Automatización, an engineering company focused on electrical systems and industrial automation.

Asturex framed the mission as one part of a broader 2026 plan that includes nine international actions, among them three major trade-fair visits, five direct commercial missions and one reverse mission spanning 13 strategic countries. Germany plays a particularly important role in that strategy. The agency said Germany remained one of Asturias’ key foreign markets, with regional exports to the country totaling €406.3 million in 2025.

The fair’s thematic focus also helps explain why Hannover was chosen. According to Hannover Messe, this year’s edition centers on AI, energy, automation, smart manufacturing and industrial networking. Asturex said the event exposed companies to developments in Industry 4.0, cybersecurity, green hydrogen, robotics and metalworking subcontracting, all areas directly linked to the industrial upgrading of Asturias’ export base.

The wider significance is that regional industrial agencies inside Europe are increasingly using major trade fairs not only for export promotion, but as tools to plug SMEs and specialized firms into larger international technology and manufacturing ecosystems.

For Latin America, the story is also relevant because it highlights the type of regional industrial clusters in Europe that often become partners, suppliers or technology references for companies operating across the Atlantic. This final point is an inference based on the mission’s focus on internationalization and industrial networking.
