Loomis Acquires Argentina’s Transportadora del Interior to Expand Cash Management Operations

Swedish cash handling and security services company Loomis has reached an agreement to acquire Argentina’s Transportadora del Interior, a cash management and valuables logistics firm headquartered in the city of Rosario, Argentina.

The transaction was agreed with Grupo Coinag, owner of Banco Coinag, and other minority shareholders. According to Loomis, the Argentine company has an enterprise value of approximately €16.6 million on a cash-free and debt-free basis, based on the reported US$19 million valuation and recent euro-dollar exchange rates. The operation is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary conditions.

Transportadora del Interior operates mainly in the provinces of Santa Fe and Córdoba, two key regions for Argentina’s agricultural, industrial and commercial activity. The company provides cash logistics, cash handling and secure transportation services for financial institutions, retailers and businesses that require specialized security operations.

For Loomis, the acquisition represents a strategic move to strengthen its position in Argentina and expand its service network in Latin America. The Swedish group is one of the world’s leading companies in cash management, cash-in-transit and secure logistics, with operations across several international markets.

The deal also reflects continued European interest in Argentina’s service economy at a time when international investors are reassessing opportunities in the country. Beyond energy, mining and infrastructure, sectors such as logistics, security, financial services and business operations are also attracting attention from global companies.

Although digital payments continue to grow, cash remains highly relevant across Latin America. That creates sustained demand for secure transportation, processing and cash management services, particularly in markets where physical money continues to play a central role in daily transactions.

By acquiring Transportadora del Interior, Loomis gains an established local operator with regional infrastructure, operational knowledge and client relationships in two important Argentine provinces. The transaction could also allow the group to introduce new technology, improve process efficiency and expand integrated cash solutions in the local market.

For Argentina, the acquisition is another sign of foreign corporate interest in strategic service industries. It also shows how European companies continue to identify opportunities in Latin America’s evolving business landscape.

As economic ties between Europe and Latin America deepen, transactions such as this one underline the role of specialized services in cross-border investment. For Loomis, Rosario becomes a new operational base in Argentina; for the local market, the arrival of a major Swedish player could bring scale, technology and international standards to the cash logistics sector.
