AeronautX Targets Duopoly with New Amsterdam Pilot Training Centre
AeronautX, led by Niall Olver, plans to open a pilot training centre in Amsterdam in early 2027, aiming to disrupt the established market duopoly.

AeronautX, owned by Niall Olver, has announced plans to open a pilot training centre in Amsterdam in the first quarter of 2027, a move positioned to challenge the current duopoly in the European pilot training market.
The facility will initially feature Bombardier Challenger simulators, targeting the business aviation segment. By establishing operations in Amsterdam, AeronautX aims to expand the availability of advanced pilot training options in a market historically dominated by two major providers.
The market for pilot training in Europe is characterised by limited competition, with most clients reliant on a narrow set of established players. AeronautX’s entry could increase competitive pressure, offering more choice for operators and potentially lowering training costs for airlines and business jet operators.
The launch comes amid growing demand for qualified pilots across Europe, driven by recovery in business aviation and a wider need for simulator capacity. Amsterdam’s strategic location within the continent is expected to attract a broad mix of clients, including those from Latin America seeking EASA-compliant training.
However, breaking the entrenched duopoly presents risks. The company will face challenges in winning market share from incumbents with established client relationships and operational scale. Success will depend on AeronautX’s ability to differentiate its training offering and establish credibility among operators and regulators.
If successful, the centre could serve as a model for further expansion in Europe’s training sector, intensifying competition and potentially spurring innovation in simulator technology. For the Latin American market, increased access to European-standard training could facilitate pilot mobility and compliance with international regulations.
