Atlas Bio raises €11.2M to deploy AI against drug development’s 70% failure rate
Swiss startup Atlas Bio has secured €11.2 million to develop AI models that predict drug efficacy and safety, aiming to accelerate trials and cut failure rates.

Atlas Bio, a Swiss startup, has secured €11.2 million in funding to advance its artificial intelligence foundation model for predicting drug efficacy and safety in virtual patients, according to the Atlas Bio funding announcement. The company aims to address the persistent 70% failure rate in drug development and dramatically shorten traditional clinical trial timelines.
The funding round includes a €9 million Seed investment led by Creandum, alongside a previously unannounced pre-Seed round led by First Momentum Ventures and co-investor LEA Partners. With this capital, Atlas Bio plans to accelerate the development of its AI platform, which seeks to simulate drug responses in silico, reducing the need for animal testing and potentially moving drug candidates through the pipeline more efficiently.
Atlas Bio's platform is positioned to transform pharmaceutical R&D by enabling more accurate predictions of drug safety and efficacy before entering costly and lengthy human trials. The company claims its technology could reduce clinical testing periods from years to weeks, cutting development costs and expediting patient access to new therapies.
For the European and Latin American markets, advances in AI-driven drug development could improve the competitiveness of regional biotechs, attract new investment, and offer faster solutions for unmet medical needs. However, the adoption of AI in clinical trial design faces regulatory scrutiny and market acceptance challenges, particularly regarding the validation of virtual patient models.
Investor interest in Atlas Bio underscores growing confidence in AI-enabled biotech innovation, despite ongoing questions about regulatory pathways and the integration of new digital methodologies into established pharmaceutical frameworks.
