Complaion secures €13.5 million to boost compliance tech for European SMEs

Complaion, the Italian compliance management company, has raised €13.5 million in funding to expand its platform aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in meeting regulatory demands across Europe.

The round was led by Eurazeo and Italian Founders Fund, with participation from Shapers, 2100 Ventures, Kfund, Sella Direct Ventures, Enzo Ventures, Vento, Ithaca, Eden Ventures and Vesper. The capital injection comes just months after Complaion's founding in 2024, reflecting growing investor interest in compliance technology for the region’s SME market.

Complaion plans to use the funds to enhance its technology and expand its team, according to CEO and founder Edoardo Tarricone and COO and co-founder Marco Cortinovis. The company aims to develop advanced solutions to help SMEs manage complex and evolving regulatory requirements more efficiently.

Regulatory compliance remains a significant challenge for Europe’s 25 millionSMEs, which often lack the resources to manage documentation, reporting and risk assessment across multiple jurisdictions. By streamlining these processes, compliance platforms like Complaion can reduce overheads and free up capacity for growth and innovation.

The funding round highlights intensifying competition among compliance technology providers in Europe, as regulatory demands increase and digital solutions gain traction. For investors, the sector is seen as a growth opportunity, with a strong emphasis on scalable, tech-driven products that address pan-European needs.

Complaion’s expansion comes as European policymakers continue to update and harmonise compliance requirements across sectors, from data protection to environmental and financial regulations. Enhanced technology could give SMEs greater agility in responding to regulatory change, while also supporting cross-border trade within the single market.

Risks for Complaion include competition from established compliance management firms and potential regulatory shifts that could alter the market landscape. However, the rapid uptake of digital compliance tools among SMEs suggests strong demand for user-friendly, integrated solutions that can adapt to evolving legal frameworks.

The company has not yet detailed which specific technologies it will prioritise or provided a timeline for its European rollout. However, the scale of the investment signals an intent to become a leading player in the compliance space for SMEs across the continent.
