Lisbon’s Beyond Vision Raises €28 Million to Advance AI Drones for Civilian and Defence Sectors
Lisbon-based Beyond Vision has secured over €28 million to scale its AI-powered drones, signalling heightened European investment in next-generation unmanned aerial systems for both civilian and defence applications.

Beyond Vision, the Lisbon-based manufacturer of unmanned aerial systems, has raised over €28 million in a recent investment round co-led by Índico Capital Partners and Lince Capital. Existing shareholder ActiveCap, which joined the company in 2024, participated with a follow-on investment, according to the company.
The fresh funding will allow Beyond Vision to accelerate the development and scaling of its AI-powered drone platforms for both civilian and defence markets. The company’s technology is aimed at meeting growing demand for advanced, autonomous aerial systems, a sector experiencing rapid expansion across Europe.
The move comes as European governments and private-sector actors intensify efforts to strengthen regional defence capabilities and technological sovereignty. AI-enabled drones are seen as critical assets for security, surveillance, and logistics, with applications ranging from border monitoring to disaster response and military operations.
For Europe, investments like these are intended to reduce dependence on non-European suppliers and foster innovation within the EU’s industrial base. Enhanced drone capabilities could play a strategic role in future defence frameworks, supporting both national governments and cross-border security initiatives.
The funding round positions Beyond Vision to compete more aggressively with established drone manufacturers, both within Europe and globally. As the market for unmanned aerial systems expands, the company faces ongoing risks from technological challenges and competitive pressures, but also stands to benefit from potential partnerships with government agencies and defence contractors.
According to the company, the capital injection will be used to scale operations and advance the integration of AI into its drone platforms. This is expected to support the rollout of new products and services targeting both commercial and governmental clients, further embedding AI technology in critical infrastructure and security applications.
The rise of AI-powered drones signals a broader trend in European tech investment, with venture funds increasingly targeting startups operating at the intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, and defence. For investors and policy makers, Beyond Vision’s funding round serves as a marker of the region’s ambitions in next-generation security technologies.
