Lotus Bakeries Unveils €500 Million Global Expansion to Boost Biscoff Production

Lotus Bakeries is preparing for the next phase of its international expansion with an ambitious investment plan that will significantly increase production capacity for its flagship Biscoff products over the remainder of the decade.

The Belgian company will invest at least €500 million by 2030, developing new manufacturing facilities and expanding existing plants across three continents to meet accelerating consumer demand.

Record investment for a global brand

Described by the company as the largest investment programme ever undertaken for Biscoff, the initiative will strengthen production capabilities at facilities in Lembeke (Belgium), Mebane (United States) and Chonburi (Thailand).

The expansion is designed to ensure sufficient manufacturing capacity as Biscoff continues gaining market share in both mature and emerging markets.

Strong financial performance fuels expansion

The investment announcement follows another period of solid financial results for Lotus Bakeries.

During the first half of the year, the company reported revenues approaching €750 million, representing double-digit annual growth, while operating profit and net earnings also increased significantly.

Biscoff remained the group's strongest-performing brand, recording growth in both sales volume and revenue across nearly every region where it operates.

Growing popularity worldwide

Demand for Biscoff products continues to accelerate across Europe, North America and Asia.

Europe remains the company's largest growth market, while the United States has become one of its fastest-expanding regions. According to Lotus Bakeries, Biscoff has established itself as one of the country's fastest-growing biscuit brands, reflecting increasing consumer interest in premium snack products.

The company aims to further strengthen its global market position in the coming years.

Expansion across three continents

Construction work has already begun in Belgium, where a new production hall is being added at the company's historic manufacturing site in Lembeke.

In the United States, Lotus Bakeries plans to build additional production facilities dedicated to both Biscoff biscuits and the brand's popular cookie spread, with operations expected to begin before the end of the decade.

Meanwhile, the recently opened factory in Thailand is already entering a second expansion phase, with new production lines scheduled to come online over the next few years.

Latin America enters the growth strategy

Although Latin America currently represents a relatively small market for Biscoff, the company is exploring future expansion opportunities in the region.

Lotus Bakeries is working with its commercial partner Mondelez International to evaluate business development opportunities in Brazil, drawing on successful collaboration models previously implemented in India.

The initiative could mark the beginning of a broader regional growth strategy as demand for premium international food brands continues to increase across Latin America.

Building the next phase of global growth

The new investment programme highlights Lotus Bakeries' confidence in the long-term growth potential of the Biscoff brand.

By expanding production capacity across Europe, North America and Asia while exploring new opportunities in Latin America, the company is positioning itself to support rising global demand and further strengthen its presence in the international premium biscuit market.
